Mise & Measure FAQ

Mise & Measure offers small planning tools for recipe quantities, cooking timing, coffee ratios, and meal preparation. They make routine maths easier, but the recipe, ingredient label, and food-safety guidance remain the source of truth.

Can I scale any recipe by the same multiplier?

Many ingredient quantities scale well, but seasoning, thickening, pan size, heat transfer, and cooking time often need judgment. Start with the scaled quantities, then taste and adjust in a safe way.

Does a cooking timer know when food is safe?

No. A timer is only a reminder. Use a reliable thermometer, the recipe instructions, product labels, and local food-safety guidance where they apply. Time alone cannot confirm that food is cooked or stored safely.

Are ingredient substitutions guaranteed to work?

No. A substitute can change flavour, texture, allergens, acidity, or how a recipe sets. Check the role of the ingredient and use a recipe-specific source when baking, preserving food, or cooking for an allergy.

How should I use a coffee ratio result?

It is a starting point for water and coffee quantity. Grind size, roast, brewer, water, and personal taste can all change the final drink, so adjust gradually and keep notes for a repeatable result.

Does a pan conversion include baking time?

No. A pan calculation can help compare volume or surface area, but pan material, batter depth, oven accuracy, and recipe type affect timing. Follow visual and temperature cues as well as the recipe.

Can I enter allergy or health information?

Do not enter sensitive personal information. The tools do not provide allergy, nutrition, or medical advice. For a serious allergy or dietary medical need, use verified product information and guidance from a qualified professional.
